Steven Doughton – Delta
Portland Institute for Contemporary Art
2017
Steven Doughton’s Delta was a large scale video installation in PICA’s 10,000 sq/ft main space at 15 NE Hancock. The project was a re-installation of a video work that Doughton first installed at Marianne Boesky Gallery in 1997, using novel technology to create a synchronized multi-channel video. For the exhibition at PICA, we sourced original LaserDisc players and used Doughton’s original glass LaserDisc copies of the piece. In addition, we designed and fabricated custom screens from milled aluminum to create clean, two sided projections for each channel.
